My JJ 004 – Finding Rhythm

I was exercising more consistently recently, pretty happy about my progress so far. I decided to start skipping again, so I went into the garden, set my timer for 30mins.

As I skipped the rope would get caught in my shoe and I would have to start over again. Then my foot wouldn’t get all the way through and I would have to start over again.

I used different techniques but had the same results. My aim was to skip 100 times in a row, I kept stopping at 30, 20, then got up to 60 then 10; it went on like that for a while.

The time was running down and I hadn’t hit my goal yet. Then when I slowed down and took it steady, I went to 160 surpassing my intended goal with lots of time to spare which made me ecstatic!

I learned a few things during that work out. I’ve listed 5 below:

1. In life I will be presented with lots of opportunities to quit when things don’t seem to    be going my way.

2. Engaging in the act of frustration does not serve in getting me in getting to my  destination any faster. It actually slows down my progress.

3. If at first I don’t succeed, try again, then again, and another time. It is true that anything worth having is worth the work.

4. Patience is a powerful tool which requires a lot of self control.  Life will often push me beyond my comfort zone, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it will be uncomfortable!

5. Defining my focus helps me to push through the hard stuff to get to the good stuff!

We all have to work to find the rhythm that works for us in life. What works for me, may not work for someone else. But it is up to me to find out what does, so that I can live my best life! Whoop Whoop!!

I hope those tips encourage you to hang in there when life seems to be handing out a lot of lemons. Learn from mishaps and move forward keeping our eyes on the prize. Having faith that one day we’ll get there {wherever there is}.
